KISSIMMEE, Fla. – In his final collegiate round, the lone senior on the Jacksonville State men's golf team led the way.
Daniel Pico carded a 2-under 70 in Wednesday's final round of the 2018 NCAA Kissimmee Regional, leading his team to a 12th-place finish to wrap up the season. His eighth round of par or better led JSU to its second 293 in as many days to wrap up the regional with a 54-hole 872.

The third and final day on the par-72, 7,154-yard Watson Course at Reunion Resort started with an 8 a.m. shotgun start to avoid the forecast of heavy rain and storms set to arrive later in the day. The field of 14 teams and 75 individuals dodged that threat, sitting through just one 30-minute lightning delay as the round closed.
Pico, a native of Bucaramanga, Colombia, tied for 57th in the field with a three-day score of 221 but led the Gamecocks on his final day. He made six birdies to offset four bogeys, including a stretch that saw him play holes No. 11-1 at 6-under.
Freshman Quim Vidal Mora shot even in the last round of his first collegiate season to finish as JSU's top individual in the regional. The Barcelona, Spain, native birdied four holes in the round, recording all four birdies in a five-hole stretch from No. 15-1. He capped the event with a 218 that tied him for 46th.
Junior Benedikt Thalmayr finished tied for 53rd with a 220 in the tournament. He finished his first NCAA appearance with an 80 on Wednesday.
Freshman Jesus Dario Montenegro's 76 capped his 223 and tied him for 64th, while redshirt freshman Max Basler capped his tournament with a 75. He tied for 69th with a 227.
No. 8 Florida won the regional and advances with host UCF, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 17 North Carolina and No. 29 Kent State to the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla. The Gators' Andy Zhang won medalist honors with a 13-under 203 that was finished by a 67 on Wednesday.
The regional concludes an improbable OVC Championship run for a JSU team that featured one senior, a junior and three freshmen. The Gamecocks made their eighth appearance in the Division I regionals and their fifth since 2011.
